History

Early History

Nostradamus is Catherine's long-term friend and confidante, their relationship stretching to decades back.

Season 1

Catherine and Nostradamus are sharing a drink and talking. Nostradamus gives Catherine a concoction of herbs to aid in her daughter's fertility. Catherine then asks him about her son's future with Mary. Will he love her? Will she love him? Nostradamus has had fleeting images, but as of now, their meaning is unclear. He tells Catherine to be patient.

While Francis is greeting Mary, Nostradamus goes wide-eyed. Catherine immediately recognizes that he has had a vision and asks him what he has seen. Nostradamus hesitantly informs her that Francis' union with Mary will cost him his life.

Catherine embarks on a quest to prevent her son from marrying Mary, using Nostradamus's Predictions as guidance.

Season 2

Nostradamus turns against Catherine and works with Mary. His involvement in the death of the son of a powerful noble, Lord Narcisse, results in his charge of being drawn and quartered. Luckily, Mary is able to stop the procedure in time and set Nostradamus free at the same time. He then leaves court with the intention to never return.

He makes another appearance when he is revealed to be treating King Francis' illness. He has been giving him herbs to assuage the pain, but the truth remains: Francis is dying.

Season 3

Despite Francis' miraculous recovery, Nostradamus returns to court bearing a grim message: he has had another vision regarding Francis' death. He apprises Catherine of it, hoping she could talk to Francis about it. However, Francis doesn't listen, and on a romantic getaway with Mary, he is killed by assassins.

On his funeral the following day, Catherine begs Nostradamus to stay at court and guide her again. He refuses, but leaves her with a final prophecy before leaving for good.

Notes

• Catherine has a great deal of information on the human anatomy, including multiple different ways on how to kill a person with both weapons and poisons. Probably taught to her by Nostradamus.
• Nostradamus grew up with, and later helped raise Clarissa, before finding out she was Catherine's biological daughter.
• Nostradamus told Catherine she would rule France, but only with Queen Mary's help.
