Martel de Guise is a member of the House of Guise, one of the wealthiest and most influential houses in France. His father was one of the 13 men secretly murdered by Catherine and Henry, unbeknown to him. He also had a dalliance with Princess Claude.

Sly and flirty, Martel even succeeded in seducing a princess. However, he got too big for his boots when he was certain he could marry her.

Martel de Guise is from the House of Guise. His father, Christian de guise, was murdered by Catherine and Henry. [1] [2]
Martel de Guise and Princess Claude had a sexual and romantic weekend together in Florence a few years back before Claude found out he was from the House of Guise.

Martel de Guise was up for a possible marriage to Princess Claude on her older sister's Queen Leeza's order. The two had been secretly talking about it and both agreed. As they were both Catholic The Pope and Spain needed more Catholic allies.
After a few attempts to make Claude feel better after Leith Bayard death, the marriage idea was presented to the princess who was very upset, not ready to move on from Leith.
Unbeknown to him Queen Catherine and Claude knew of his involvement in Leith's possible death, and Catherine did not want him rising in station so instead she had him killed and staged it as a suicide. [3]
