Lord Castleroy

History[]

Early History[]

Aloysius Castleroy was married, and his wife gave birth to 5 children before her death. Greer grew up with her family in Scotland before moving to France to serve her Queen.

Season 1[]

The young Greer first caught Lord Castleroy's eye at The Harvest Festival of 1557. Greer was excited at the prospect of marrying a wealthy, titled man who could support her and her sisters financially. However, as they talked, Greer found herself annoyed at the man for winding every topic back to pepper. Not to mention she was already involved with another. [1]

A few months later, the opportunity to mingle with suitors came again in the form of the First Light Banquette. A lot of lords attended the event, including Castleroy, and he was determined to make Greer see him as more than just a spice-blabbering fool. [2]

At the banquet, he invited Greer to a one-on-one dinner where they could get to know each other, which she accepted. As Castleroy pointed out, there was no pepper in the meal! He detected Greer's lack of interest in the subject, much to her surprise, and decided that he wouldn't talk of it anymore. During their dinner, Castleroy's sleeve caught on fire from one of the candles. Luckily, Leith Bayard, their attending servant and Greer's secret lover, snuffed the fire out in time. Both Greer and Castleroy showed concern over Leith, Greer more so. Castleroy thanked Leith for his remarkable bravery and called it a night. [2]

Season 2[]

Greer and Lord Castleroy started out on good terms. However, when she saw that Leith was courting Yvette, Castleroy's daughter, she became worried that Leith was only courting Yvette because of a vow he had made to her prior, in which he swore that he would rise and find happiness with another, all to rub it in her face. And so, she told Castleroy of Leith's threat in concern over his daughter, but likely in jealousy too. [3]

Yvette died shortly after. Castleroy blamed Leith for Yvette's death, and accused him of still trying to stay close to Greer. Castleroy also questioned Greer's loyalty to him. He wasn't sure if he could be with someone whose heart resided with another, now that he knew how it felt. He went on a business trip shortly thereafter, leaving their relationship to hang in the balance. [4]

The couple spent time apart, only exchanging formal and evasive letters. But Greer soon decided to marry Castleroy. She rode all night to his estate, only to be rejected by him. He allowed her to rest at his place, and leave in the morning. However, Greer didn't accept that. She persuaded him into giving her a chance, to prove that they can be happy together. They end up consummating their marriage. [5]

Lord Castleroy was giving money to a Protestant group to which he thought was going to built schools. When the group came to their house and asked for more money, Lord Castleroy became suspicious as to where the money was going. Lord Castleroy had his suspicion proven when an attack on the King and Queen of France became known. Greer confronted her husband that the money he has been giving to a Protestant group has been used to fund an assassination on the King of France. [6][7]

Season 3[]

Aloysius Castleroy was broken out of the royal cell he was imprisoned in at the request of Queen Mary. He saw Greer for the first time after he was released from prison when she was nine months pregnant. At first, he denies Greer's request to help her raise her unborn child, but comes around to be willing to be a father. Greer and Aloysius leave to raise their daughter.

Season 4[]

With Friends Like These - (Mentioned)
Greer arrived in Edinburgh, Scotland in time for Lola's funeral. She left Rose Castleroy behind in France with her husband, Aloysius Castleroy. Mary prepares her eulogy for Lola's funeral. Staying how Lola Fleming Narcisse was a mother and a wife. She was her lady and her dear, dear friend, and she shall never be forgotten. However, during the funeral, Mary became ill and had to leave early. Asking Greer to stay behind with Lola's parents.

A Grain Of Deception - (Mentioned)
Mary Stuart tried to talk Greer into staying in Scotland. Telling her, since her own arrival, she'd felt alone with no one to turn to. She adds she had to respond officially to Lola's involvement in the assassination attempt and had to confiscate her family's lands. But she still wanted them taken care of, so wanted Greer and Castleroy to move to Scotland and manage their lands.

Playing With Fire
Mary Stuart and Lady Greer were enjoying the sunshine, while eating fruit. Mary told Greer she'd help her set up her home for when Rose and Castleroy arrived from France. She added she could see why Lola spoke of her childhood in Scotland so fondly. And now Greer's daughter would get to experience the same.
