Linlithgow, Scotland is a royal burgh in West Lothian, Scotland. An ancient town, it lies south of its two most prominent landmarks: Linlithgow Palace and Linlithgow Loch. It lies 20 miles/30 km west of Edinburgh along the main railway route to Glasgow.
History
Mary Stuart was born in Linlithgow, but grew up in Edinburgh, Scotland at the Holyrood Palace until she was attacked by the English and sent to live in France by her mother when she was 7.
