Emile de Bourbon was the nephew of Prince Louis who was his mother's brother. He was murdered by a group of Catholic extremists.

Personality[]

Not much about Emile is known. He was a practising Protestant whose mother send him close to the French Court, believing that part of the country was more tolerant.

Early Life[]

Emile was raised by his parents, but was eventually sent to live with his uncle who lives close to French Court.

Season 2[]

Blood for Blood
Emile was in a barn that was being used for worship by a group of Protestants. Not long into the service the door to the barn opened and a group of Catholic extremists came in, demanding to know what was happening. They began to take him away, aggressively out the front barn doors. Before he left, one of the newer members tried to stop them, but was assaulted.

Not long after, Emile was beaten to death by the men after they set the barn on fire.

Louis of Condé is informed by Jacob Rivell of a Protestant gathering, but they're afraid to worship in their villages so they come here, despite persecution. Christians who only want the freedom to worship. But is he want to prevent them from suffering the same fate as his nephew, they need his help, King Francis has sent a letter to Rome, asking the Pope to recall his Inquisitors. Confronting Rome in this way takes courage, and gives them hope that Francis is a tolerant man. They want to get their minister an audience with the King and Queen.

  • Emile de Bourbon was murdered to send a message to other high born Protestant men, no one was safe. His death was a turning point, and unknowingly the start of The French Wars of Religion.
  • Emile's last name would be 'Emile de Bourbon' since that is his family's name.
  • Mary de Bourbon is never confirmed as his mother, but her other 3 sisters died unmarried.

  • Louis of Condé's parents had 13 children, including King Antoine and Louis of Condé. However, they only had 4 daughters, none of whom had any children.
