The wedding of King Philip and Princess Elizabeth took place in France in the middle of the summer in the year 1557.
Details
Henry signed the Peace of Cateau-Cambrésis with the Holy Roman Empire and England, ending a long period of Italian wars. The treaty was sealed by the betrothal of Princess Elizabeth to King Philip II of Spain.
Historical Notes
- The wedding actually took place in 22 June 1559, and in Paris.
- King Henry II was greatly injurer in a jousting match during his daughter's wedding celebrations and died almost two weeks after her wedding.
